Whiskers of Yesterday ("the game") is published by BENEVIS LTD ("we", "us"), Sofia, Bulgaria. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Questions or requests: support@whiskersofyesterday.com.
The game uses your Steam name and Steam ID to show who you are in the game (the name tag above your cat, the players list, join messages and greetings), to connect you with other players, and to keep your progress in Steam Cloud. Your Steam account itself is run by Valve under Valve's privacy policy.
When you play online, the game uses Epic Online Services ("EOS", by Epic Games) to create and find games, connect players and run voice chat. EOS links your Steam account to an EOS user ID and processes technical data such as your IP address. You don't need an Epic account. See Epic's privacy policy.
If you host a game, your Steam name is used as the game's name in the server list, together with the flag of your country (Steam's estimate from your IP address). Players looking for games can see both.
Voice chat is sent live through EOS voice servers to the other players in your game. We don't record it. Text chat messages go through the game session to the other players and appear above your cat and in the chat window. We don't keep them on any server. You can mute or hide other players, choose push-to-talk or an open microphone, and change voice volumes in the settings.
Other players in your game see your cat (coat, position and actions), your name and what you do in the shared games (for example scores). The host can kick or ban players; the list of banned players exists only while the host's game is running and is not stored.
Your progress, key bindings and settings are saved on your computer. If Steam Cloud is turned on, Steam also keeps a copy of your progress and key bindings.
If the game crashes, Unreal Engine's crash reporter can send a crash report to BugSplat, a crash reporting service we use. A report contains technical information about the crash (a snapshot of the game's memory at that moment and the game's log file), your computer's hardware and operating system, the game version, and anything you type into the crash reporter. The log and memory snapshot may include your Steam name, other players' names, recent chat lines, and file paths that can contain your Windows user name. BugSplat receives your IP address when a report is sent. We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs, and we delete them within 3 months.
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, we process this data because it is needed to provide the features you choose to use (online play, chat, cloud saves) and because of our legitimate interest in keeping the game working and fixing crashes.
Valve (Steam), Epic Games (Epic Online Services) and BugSplat process data for us or alongside us as described above. They may process it in the United States and other countries, using safeguards required by law (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, or to restrict or object to its use. Write to support@whiskersofyesterday.com. To help us find a crash report, include your Steam name and roughly when the crash happened. You can also complain to a data protection authority: ours is Bulgaria's Commission for Personal Data Protection, or you can contact the authority in your own country.
Whiskers of Yesterday is family friendly, but its online features (voice and text chat) are not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us, contact us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
